A Gift for Anna

My niece, Anna, had a birthday at the end of October, for her present, she requested a new hat. After I made her the hat, I made another (due to the fact that I didn't write down the pattern), then made my sister stand out in the cold to have her picture taken.  Thank you Ellie!

Peggy V

I find half of the time I knit, I am knitting prayer shawls; I would classify a prayer shawl as a shawl knit with the prayer that peace and strength comes to those who wear it. A friend of mine once told me, that getting a prayer shawl was like receiving a "knitted hug", I love that analogy.  This particular shawl I knit for my Aunt Peggy, after she lost her twin sister.  Having two sisters myself, I cannot imagine the grief my Aunt carries.

Pattern Notes:
Peggy V is an edged triangle shawl with a climbing diamond pattern at the center; starting at a point, the right border is knit, followed by a set of straight stitches before finishing with the left border.  On each right side row, a stitch is added by the right border to create the length of the triangle.  At the center of the shawl a diamond pattern is knit; after the diamond pattern is finished, the shawl decreases while maintaining the border stitch pattern. This shawl is perfect for fending off the cool air without suffocating you with warmth.

Honeycombs and Ruffles, Hope for Peace and Strength

This is a repeat post in loving memory of Davey Warsen, Pat Feeks and all aboard the Ozzie 72, shot down in Afghanistan in August 2012.  I have repeated this post twice now and it does not get easier.

A year ago last week, a Black Hawk was shot down.  All lives were lost, for each of those men there was a family whose world stopped.  This is the shawl I made for one of their mothers.

A honeycomb shawl with ruffles on both ends.  Originally, I knit this with Berroco Remix, the photographed shawl is knit with Rowan Savannah.  I would love to knit this with Crystal Palace Cuddles, although I think any acrylic would work well.

You can buy the pattern here.

100% of the sales will go to the David Warsen Legacy fund.

Davey, you are missed and loved, so very very much.
